"War is not always inevitable. It is
always a defeat for humanity." - Pope John Paul II
Peace is not the product of terror or fear.
Peace is
not the silence of cemeteries.
Peace is not the silent result of violent
repression.
Peace is the generous, tranquil
contribution of all to the good of all.
Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity.
It is right and it is duty.
- Archbishop Oscar Romero
"30,000 Iraqis have been killed since
the war began."
- President George W. Bush, 2005
Since then, tens of thousands more, innocent Iraqis,
have been injured or killed.
On December 31st, 2006 the 3000th
American soldier
was killed in the war in
Iraq.
"There were not sufficient reasons to
unleash a war against Iraq.
To say nothing of the fact that, given the new weapons
that make possible destructions that go beyond the combatant groups,
today we should be asking ourselves if it is still licit to admit
the very existence of a 'just war.'"
- Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger,
now Pope Benedict XVI, May 2, 2003
Please join the St. Julie Billiart
Parish community and
continue to pray for peace in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Please pray for the all the families devastated by this war.
Dedicated to the memory of all those who have died as a result of
war.
