Ministry Responsibilities:

·         Schedule for a desired liturgy

·         Prepare the Scripture readings at home with the aid of the Workbook
for Lectors and prayer

·         Arrive at least 15 minutes before the liturgy begins

·         Find a replacement if one cannot attend

·         Proclaim with a speaking style that is audible, clear, and intelligent
 

   Time Required:

·         At least 30 minutes or more in preparation at home

·         Schedule at least once a month, especially during certain liturgical seasons such as Advent and Lent
 

   In-service and Training Required:

·        Four 2 hour in-services that are provided by the parish or diocese

·        Training is part of these in-services

·        Two yearly gatherings for added training, input, and prayer

·        Extra practices for certain liturgical seasons such as Advent and Lent
 

   Qualifications and Special Skills:  A person of the Word and prayer

·        understands that God is present in the spoken Word

·        recognizes the importance of the Hebrew and early Christian Scriptures in our lives today

·        struggles to live out the Gospel message in everyday life
